Eliminating Waste and Holding the Line on Taxes

As an attorney who has worked with government watchdogs at the Better Government Association and the daughter of a former federal prosecutor, Molly understands that we must end business-as-usual at City Hall to bring business to our neighborhood and our city.

Molly is endorsed by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and local business owners because she has a detailed plan to fight the government waste and corruption that drives our taxes up and stands in the way of economic recovery.

Chicago city government needs real budget reform. Molly will fight to require a detailed line-by-line audit of the entire city budget to identify and eliminate waste while working to protect vital programs like public safety, education and economic development. Molly will fight to consolidate city departments that provide duplicative services, eliminate the small army of middle managers who spend their days pushing paper or supervising as few as one or two employees, and take advantage of new technology to deliver city services better, faster and cheaper. She supports changes to Streets and Sanitation procedures that could save the city $30 million a year without affecting the quality of services. Molly also will fight for changes to the Water Department that will conserve our most vital resource and save millions more.

Molly will continue to push for even stronger ethics reforms. Molly is fed up with Machine politicians who commit crimes and waste taxpayer dollars. She is the only candidate who supports new legislation imposing mandatory jail time for government officials who violate ethics laws, and she wants to cut city elected officials’ salaries and require voter approval by Chicago taxpayers before the City Council can be awarded any future pay raises.
